The Secret World

I've always loved Funcom.  No, the love spawned before the Age of Conan (which I haven't even played)  The love came from Anarchy Online; best MMORPG in my opinion.  Of course, now there aren't many people playing anymore.  It's too difficult to get into teams, which is turn makes leveling too slowly.  You can't do anything without butt loads of money.  Everything is too expensive, so you are constantly having to buy to kill, then kill to get money.  Missions are very boring and just...argh.  You get one from a terminal, run run run to the middle of nowhere, do it, then run run run run to another mission, and all the missions are inside a building, or a cave, or a subway.  It's very bland. 



Despite these issues, Anarchy Online is an extremely unique world.  The music is hands down the best video game music ever, the creatures are amazing and different, it has leets (leet, as in a furry little mammal), TONS AND TONS of social clothes, parties (like go in a dance parties), and even an official radio station that players have made that it still running.  The professions (classes) are all so different, it's just wonderful.  You can make your own cities, wage war against the enemy factions, and do the chicken dance backwards in a tutu while being chased by an army of angry leets.




So why the balls am I talking about this?  It was sad to leave it behind.  I don't care how old the game gets, I'll always have a special place for it in my heart.


When I went to go fetch some pictures in my e-mail, I noticed one sent by Funcom.  Something for a game called "The Secret World"  I clicked it, and I poo'd.  It looks AMAZING.  Not much information has been said about it, but it isn't Age of Conan...and the screenshots and the story remind me of Anarchy Online.  If my little sob story of Anarchy Online interested you, I'd highly suggest checking this out.  Hell, even if you don't give a fuck, check it out anyway!  Here is the link, and you can register for a chance to win to play the beta.
